%% The unmarked C notes in the bass line's final bars of all 4 strains are
%% probably meant as C sharps. This is most obvious in the first strain,
%% giving an A(7) chord to lead into the D chord in the next strain. The
%% progression C-A7-D also works for the other strains. The bass also has
%% C natural notes in the last bar (24) of strain 3, but the C sharps in the previous
%% bar (23) disagree with the notes in the melody and likely should be C naturals there,
