This directory contains ABC transcriptions of some of the tunes in the FARNE "Anonymous manuscript tune book (1800-1840) " in the collection at http://www.asaplive.com/archive/browse_by_collection.asp Some of the comments from that collection have been carried over into the ABC. But I'd suggest visiting the asaplive.com site for the original pages and their commentary on the tunes.

Summary from the above web site: The book is part of the Cocks Collection and is now in the Northumberland Record Office at Gosforth, with photocopies at the Black Gate and Morpeth Chantry. It is signed C J Surtees and dated 1819, but is the work of many different hands. It contains some standard tunes, especially Scottish ones, some obscure tunes (probably taken from obscure publications) and a few more interesting items, some of which seem to be local, which are reproduced here.

This site is somewhat difficult to understand or navigate, and the search sites like google don't seem to know much about it, either. But it has scanned images of a lot of old music collections from the 18th to the 20th centuries. As far as I can tell, they only exist in image form, mostly JPG; if any have been transcribed to a software-amenable form, I can't find them. After playing though a lot of the tunes, I've made ABC versions and posted them here. If you have any more, or would like to exchange pleasantries, send me email.
